TOMORROW IT CAN BE ONE OF YOU

We begin this page with an OPEN LETTER of the family's of the PORTUGUESE POLITICAL PRISIONERS. It's our desire to make clear all over the world, that here in Portugal there's no political freedom, at least for Nationalists. If your heart tells you so, pass this letter around, send your protest to the Portugal Embassy, in your country. Demonstrate against this repression.
(soon we'll make available one e-mail to contact us)

"OPEN LETTER TO ALL PORTUGUESE

Make no mistake those who think they live in a free country.
As family of the most recent victims of the persecution of this regime, in the apparently democratic Portugal, we just felt in our lifes the horror of seeing those who are next to us beeing gathered up and taken from their one houses for political reasons.
33 years after the revolution that, supposedly, was going to give freedom back to the people.
In the "April's Portugal" there is still place for political prisioners.
Yes, because those arrested on the 18th of April were arrested efectively because in Portugal there is still political persecution!
What to call to an operation unchained at the first hours of the morning (simultaneously in many cities) against the houses of 61 nationalists?
What to call to a search made on the headquarters of a LEGAL political party?
What to call to the apprehension of memorabilia and simple "recuerdos", political material, CD's, pictures, computers, cell-phones, t-shirts, flags, pins, books (pointing out the apprehension of a GEORGE ORWELL's book!), etc?
And the phone calls intercepted and listened?
Since when the defense of the democratic institutions can be based on the formatting of the minds in a way to think and to act only - of the regimen?
Because that's what it's all about. The shameless aggression to Nationalism (movement that grows visibly and scares those in power) denying his space in the life of the Nation.
According to the official numbers, this "operation" ended up with more than 30 nationalists waiting to go to trial:
- 1 held in prison
- 3 at home arrest
- 6 who have to present themselves in police stations
- the rest waiting for trial with conditioned freedom
It is against this situation that we,families of the most recent political prisioners in Portugal, raise our voice and launch the alert to this Nation that fell asleep on the regimen lullaby's.
If there is a crime, it only exists in the heads of those that have the power.
We say it again that the only purpose of this repressive action that took place on the 18th of April is political!
We, the families, call all Portuguese to support our fight.
For the end of the applied measures of coercion to our familiar ones.
For the reestablishment of a true democratic living with respect for the Nationalist feelings.
For the end of all political persecutions.
Today it was us and our familiar ones that felt the repression. If we don't stop this situation,
TOMORROW CAN BE ONE OF YOU!
WAKE UP PORTUGAL! "
